Eire Óg’s championship exit was significant as it saw Shane O’Donnell play his final game of hurling for club or county.
The 2024 Hurler of the Year is moving to New York to further his professional career, bringing the curtain down on his time on the pitch.

He retires a two time All Ireland winner, National League winner and also helped the Townies to capture the Canon Hamilton for the first time in 25 years.
He says while it was disappointing to bow out with defeat, he will always be grateful for the good times he experienced.
