Kilmurry Ibrickane have started off their 2025 TUS SFC campaign with a win.
David Egans side overcame Miltown by 2-15 to 1-13.
It was a hectic start in Cooraclare with Shane Hickey crashing to the net inside the opening 5 minutes to put Kilmurry 1-2 to 0-0 ahead, but that was short lived as Seanie Malone converted a penalty just over a minute later.
Miltown had the breeze in the first half with the sides level at 1-9 each heading for the dressing rooms.
That parity remained early in the second period at 1-11 each, but Caoilfhionn O’Dea’s goal in the 49th minute sent Kilmurry 2-12 to 1-11 clear.
That score would ultimately be the platform on which the Bricks saw out the game to collect a crucial opening two points in the group.
St Breckans also took a first winning step in that group, as they saw off the challenge of last years intermediate champions Wolfe Tones by 0-13 to 0-5.
It was a disappointing contest in Pairc Chiosóg, with Jamie Stack being the chief scorer for the winners.
Lissycasey kicked 0-21 in a fifteen point victory over Kilmihil to take a big step toward the knockout stages.
In the intermediate championship, Corofin pounced for a late goal to beat Naomh Eoin by 1-18 to 2-12.
