Claims Clare Families Struggling To Live With Dignity Due To Rising Costs

The president of the Clare branch of Saint Vincent De Paul says many families in this county are struggling to ‘live with dignity’ due to rising costs.

It comes as a new ESRI report has found the number of children living below the poverty line increased to 200,000 in 2024.

This is despite an almost 4% increase in the average household income in the same year.

Clare SVP President Gerardine Power has been telling Clare FM’s Darragh O’Grady that young families in particular are at risk of falling below the poverty line.
