The Friends of Ennis Hospital is calling for a clear roadmap for the delivery of much-needed additional healthcare capacity and infrastructure in the Mid-West.
The campaign group says the newly established Mid-West Health Planning Board must mark a turning point from reviewing the region’s healthcare problems to delivering the infrastructure and services needed to address them.
It says the State-owned site at Raheen could provide an opportunity for major hospital development, but warns Ennis must not be forgotten as plans for the region take shape.
Friends of Ennis Hospital spokesperson Angela Coll says she hopes the new board will focus on action, rather than becoming another “talking shop”.
