Paul Madden’s tenure as Clare senior football manager is off to a winning start.
The Banner saw off a stubborn challenge from Waterford to record a 3-10 to 0-11 win in the opening round of the McGrath Cup.

First half goals from debutantes Joe Rafferty and Caoilfhionn O’Dea saw them lead at the break by 2-4 to 0-8, with the home side in Dungarvan having picked off some excellent points in the opening period.
The third quarter was a tight affair in the main with scores hard to come by, but a late goal from substitute Jamie Stack put the game to bed.
Up next for Clare is a showdown with Kerry in Clarecastle on Tuesday evening, where a win for the Banner would see them into the final of this years competition
