Council Demanding Answers On Ballycar Flood Works

The Department of Transport is facing pressure to provide a timeline for completion of flood relief works on the Ennis to Limerick rail line. 

The network has been frequently closed for extended periods in recent years due to flooding at Ballycar near Newmarket-On-Fergus.

Although Iarnród Éireann has previously identified a €16.7m solution, no government agency has committed to funding the works.

Newmarket-On-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor David Griffin says it’s extremely frustrating.
