Musician Stephen Kennedy from Bodyke is part of the band BRIARS, who have been selected by Clare FM as part of its A New Local Hero national talent search.
The initiative forms part of Irish Music Month, which is taking place across 22 radio stations around Ireland and aims to showcase Irish musical talent.
Launched in 2021, Irish Music Month is an initiative of Hot Press and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, with funding from Coimisiún na Meán.
BRIARS are an alternative, indie-folk and trad band with members from across Ireland.
The group will now progress to the next stage of the A New Local Hero competition, where they will go through a judging process for the opportunity to perform at The Academy in Dublin as part of Irish Music Month.
