A report has found that this year’s Special Olympics Ireland Games was worth 10 million euro to the Mid West region.

The games were held in Clare and Limerick in June of last year, and a report published last evening has shown that they resulted in over 24,000 bed nights for the region.

9,000 family members and supporters attended the Games and 94% of attendees said they would consider a return visit, based on their experience.

Organisers have claimed that the real impact of the games will be it’s legacy and social implications, which went far beyond the five-day event.
