Clare Senior Hurling Championship: Scariff 3-17 – St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield 1-16
Scariff have got their Clare Senior Championship campaign for 2023 off to a winning start following a hard fought victory over St.Joseph’s Doora-Barefield
The Parish started marginally the better at Dr.Daly Park,Tulla with contributions from Adam Mungovan, Cian Barron, Eoin Lahive as well as five points from Davy Conroy seeing St.Joseph’s into a 0-10 to 0-09 lead at the interval.
Scariff adopted a more direct approach on the restart and the new strategy promptly proved its worth with Liam Crotty, Fergus Madden and Keelan Hartigan all finding the back of the net.
The introduction of Alan O’Neill from the Doora-Barefield bench greatly bolstered the Parish’s attacking threat with the former county star ultimately winning a penalty.
The resulting penalty was well saved by the Scariff netminder, however Cian Barron would duly raise the green flag on the rebound.
The goal offered little more than consolation to St. Joseph’s in the end however, as it was Scariff who ran out comfortable winners in the opening round of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship on a full-time score of 3-17 to 1-16.
