No Reduction In Clare Homeless Levels In May

There was no reduction in the number Clare people living in emergency accommodation last month, despite a drop in homelessness nationwide.

According to the Department of Housing, 97 adults were availing of homeless supports here in May.

Between Clare and Limerick, the Department also recorded 360 children as homeless over the month, up 19 from the figure in April.

Of the 748 adults recorded as homeless in the MidWest, 68% have Irish citizenship, 18% are from outside the EU and the remainder are either from the EU or UK.

Nationally, 17,447 people were living in emergency accommodation in May, down 101 on the figure for April.
