Munster’s Alan Quinlan has singled out the forthcoming return of Marcus Horan as a pivotal moment for the province.

Horan has been out of action since late October after breaking a bone in his hand, and the Clonlara man is set for a return to the Munster fold after Christmas.

Munster face two key Heineken Cup clashes against the Ospreys in the coming weeks, and were given a boost ahead of this when Paul O’Connell returned from injury against Cardiff last Saturday.

Quinlan says this, and the impending return of other players, has come at just the right time.

Meanwhile, staying with rugby, and a number of Clare clubs are hopeful that the freezing weather will clear in time for this weekend’s local action.

Ennis are due to entertain Killarney this coming Saturday at 2:30;  that’s in Division 2 of the Munster Junior League while two other local clubs are due to take to the field in the North Under 15 League

On Friday at 7:30, Ballina-Killaloe are due to take on St. Mary’s in Scarriff while Kilrush are to travel to Newcastle West on Saturday for a clash with the Limerick side.

That game kicks off at 11:30
