Ennistymon Crowned U-21A Football Champions For 2022

Ennistymon have been crowned U-21A Football champions for the first time in twelve years following a seven point victory over neighbours Corofin in the Clare U-21A Football final.

An early goal from Ryan Barry and a brace of points inside the opening quarter from Keelan Guyler set the North Clare Magpies on their way to a first Under 21-A Football Championship since 2010.

However it was not all plain sailing for Ennistymon as Brendan Rouine’s charges were forced to contend with a complement of just thirteen men for a ten minute spell during the first half following the issuing of black cards by referee Niall Quinn to wing-back Liam Cotter and full-forward Sean Rynne in quick succession.

Cillian McGroary and Robin Mounsey capitalized on the numerical advantage for Corofin to ensure the sides went in level on a score line of 1-02 to 0-05 at the break.

Ennistymon would came out of the traps a revitalized outfit on the restart with Clare senior Brendy Rouine leading the charge with three second half frees in addition to contributions from Josh Vaughan and a Sean Rynne brace.

The eventual winners were equally impressive in defence keeping Corofin scoreless from play throughout the second half with Captain Darragh Conneely pulling the strings.

Robin Mounsey kicked Corofin’s final point of the day from a free on sixty-four minutes in what was their only score of the second half as it finished in Cusack Park, Ennistymon 1-10 to Corofin’s 0-06.
