On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Alan was joined live in studio by David Lee who is the Club President of St Senan’s Rugby Club in Shannon. David discussed St Senan’s RFC current plan to introduce the wearing of headgear as mandatory among their underage teams. This would see the club becoming the first club in the UK and Ireland to introduce the rule. He highlighted the risk of head injury and concussion while playing rugby and noted that wearing headgear may prove vital in preventing this from happening. David also spoke about the positive reaction from the parents of the young players while looking ahead to the introduction of the rule at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
