Spot checks will be carried out at Irish ports for undocumented workers, after claims yesterday that migrants are being used as cheap labour.

In a statement last night, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney said he was very concerned about the allegations which appeared in the Guardian newspaper.
Minster Coveney confirmed a Garda operation has been established to address the issue of potential human trafficking in the maritime sector.
He says any evidence substantiating the allegations should be directed to the Gardai for further investigation.
