A man convicted of raping his pregnant ex-girlfriend in her County Clare home almost three years ago will be sentenced today.

The 44 year old English native, was found guilty on two rape charges, as well as false imprisonment, possession of a firearm and threatening to kill the woman, arising out of an incident last several hours in September of 2007.
The Central Criminal Court was told the ordeal ended after a stand-off with Clare gardaí.
The 44 year old is due before the court in Dublin again today for sentencing before Judge Paul Carney.
