Two new public representatives have officially joined the ranks of Clare County Council this afternoon.
A special meeting has taken place at Áras Chontae An Chláir , to fill the vacancies arising from the general election success of Sinn Féin’s Donna McGettigan and Fine Gael’s Joe Cooney.

Westbury’s James Ryan has been formally co-opted to take the second Sinn Féin seat in the council.
While O’Callaghan’s Mills farmer Conor Ryan has officially taken his seat on the Fine Gael bench.
