There’s a push for greater incentives for film and TV production companies to film in Clare.
It comes as the Banner county has been ranked eighth on a new list of the most popular filming locations in Ireland based on research analysing over 250 movies and TV shows filmed in this country.

Before it expired at the end of 2023, the Section 481 regional uplift scheme offered financial incentives to productions based outside Dublin, Wicklow and Cork.
Speaking to Clare FM’s Morning Focus, writer-director Dathaí Keane, who availed of the initiative when filming the TV series ‘Smother’ in North Clare, claims there’s been a drop-off in activity here since it lapsed.
