ESB crews are working to restore power to around 15 thousand homes and businesses, including hundreds in Clare, after electricity lines were damaged by thunderstorms overnight.
Currently there are 223 properties without supply in the Kilrush area and crews are working to restore supply as soon as possible.

However the utility says the yellow thunderstorm warning in place for this county and fifteen others may prevent some restoration works.
The warning for Clare, Tipperary, Connacht, parts of Leinster, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan came into effect at 9 am and will remain in place until 6 o’clock this evening.
Met Eireann says the impact will be ‘hit and miss’ across the counties, but people should prepare for localised flooding and gusty winds.
