One of Clare’s most historic sporting institutions is set to revamp its headquarters.
Ennis Rugby Club has been given the green light for major upgrades to its base at Drumbiggle.
The development will involve the widening of the entrance to Ennis Rugby Club to enable a two-way traffic system and the repositioning of the existing pitch.
That’s not all for the main playing surface, however, as it will transition from a grass to an all-weather synthetic field.
The reconfiguration of the pitch is also set to provide a new parking layout with additional spaces.
The upgrades will also include new dug outs, new posts and netting, an updated floodlight system, the provision of a men’s shed and refurbishments to the club house.
A new sporting facility will also make landfall at the famed Drumbiggle grounds, with three padel courts set to come on stream.
Clare County Council ultimately granted planning permission subject to 8 conditions, including that Padel cannot be played there between 8pm and 8am.
