An Ennistymon councillor insists major concerns raised in the town about a large cycling event have been largely put to rest.
This Saturday sees around 2,500 cyclists undertake the Stephen Roche Atlantic Challenge, which travels on a route in North Clare, while starting and finishing in Ennistymon.

In recent weeks, concerns have been raised about the capacity of Ennistymon to deal with such an influx of visitors, particularly on the busiest shopping day of the week.
Fianna Fáil’s Richard Nagle says consultation with the authorities now means these fears have largely abated.
