Clare County Council has been urged to consider a scheme which would reduce bin charges for the elderly, disabled and unemployed in the county.

Under the scheme, which is already in operation in other counties such as Limerick, it is envisaged that a partial rebate on bin charges be offered to people in receipt of social welfare.
The amount offered in Limerick is €150, but here officials have expressed conern that it could have significant financial implications.
However, South East Clare Fianna Fail Councillor Cathal Crowe feels it’s a suggestion that does deserve consideration
