Council Claims “No Significant Access Or Safety Issues” Identified During Willie Clancy Week

Clare County Council claims “no significant access or safety issues” in relation to parking were identified during the Willie Clancy Week.

It follows complaints from residents of Lus na Sí in Miltown Malbay who’ve reported illegal and inconsiderate parking in their area during Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, creating what they’ve argued were accessibility issues for emergency services and locals alike.

In a statement to Clare FM, the local authority says “no major issues were reported” by emergency services and that it “sought to adopt a balanced and proportionate approach to enforcement”, placing equal emphasis on accommodating the large number of visitors and ensuring public safety was maintained.

Harry Hughes of the festival committee insists they’ve done their bit to “improve the overall environment” of the town during the week’s festivities.
