A Clare woman who’s just had her 19th lesion removed is warning of the devastating consequences of sunbed over-use.
Ennis-based personal trainer Karrieann McDonnell started using sunbeds when she began working in the fitness industry in her late 20s.

After availing of indoor tanning equipment at least once a week for over a decade, she discovered an ulcer on her leg in 2012 which she had removed.
She has subsequently been treated for 19 lesions, including one which was removed on Good Friday, and she says younger people need to be aware of the health risks involved in the practice.
