It’s claimed the new South East Clare school bus service has already proven far inferior to its previous model.
It follows concerns raised by constituents over traffic congestion and public safety after the first day of Bus Eireann’s new routes from Cratloe, Newmarket-On-Fergus and Sixmilebridge to Shannon taking to the roads.
It’s understood buses coming to collect students in the evening did not have enough to space to access the designated pull in bay; temporarily blocking local residents in their homes.
So far, just first year students have returned to school and Clare Oireachtas Transport Committee Member Fianna Fáil Senator Timmy Dooley fears there will bedlam in the coming weeks unless the service is scrapped.
