Calls For New Public Consultation On Lahinch-Ennistymon Wastewater Treatment Plant

A Clare MEP has raised concerns with Uisce Éireann over its plans for a wastewater treatment plant in Lahinch.

Michael McNamara claims residents were not adequately informed during a 2025 consultation, with concerns over the proposed site at Calluragh, the Cregg Beach outfall and environmental impacts.

He’s also questioning the proposed capacity of around nine-thousand-three-hundred people, which is just below the ten-thousand threshold for an Environmental Impact Assessment.

The Scariff-based MEP says he fears Uisce Éireann is ‘playing with the figures’ to avoid European legal requirements.
