A Clare skin cancer survivor is urging others to open up about suffering from post-traumatic stress while battling the illness.
Quin woman Kate Maloney was initially diagnosed with melanoma when she was 19, having delayed in seeking medical attention for a new spot she found three years prior on her right calf.
Having underwent surgery to remove the cancer, it returned seven years later and Kate had to undergo more treatment which left her with a disfiguration caused by Lymphedema in her leg.
Having lost her father to melanoma in her teens and suffering two diagnoses of the same cancer herself, Kate Maloney says it was therapy at Sláinte An Chláir which saved her.
