Anthony Pilkington looks set to finally make his Republic of Ireland debut in this month’s friendly against England at Wembley.
The Norwich winger is the only uncapped player in a 28-man squad named by Giovanni Trapattoni today for the friendlies against England, Georgia and Spain as well as the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands.
Pilkington is expected to make his debut at Wembley on May 29th before then being released from the squad to attend his wedding.
Richard Dunne remains absent, along with his injured Aston Villa teammate Ciaran Clarke, while Kevin Doyle is unavailable as he prepares to undergo surgery.
Meanwhile, Trapattoni has attempted to pour cold water on speculation linking him with a return to club management with Italian side, Napoli
Italian media have reported that the 74-year-old could be targetted by the club.
But Trap insists he’s committed to the Irish cause…
