Their season came to an end with defeat after extra time against Kilmallock in the decider, on a final score of 1-32 to 3-18.

The south Clare men came through both the county football and hurling campaigns unbeaten, becoming the first side since 1914 to win both titles in the same year.

McGrath says when they review their 2014 season, it can be viewed as a successful one.

Meanwhile Kilmallock boss Ger Sparrow O'Loughlin said both sides produced a fantastic game of hurling.

The Clarecastle man, who himself tasted defeat as manager of Adare in the 2008 Munster Final, felt his sides strength in depth played a crucial role.
