There has been a 39% increase in Clare renters seeking support from a housing charity dedicated to preventing homelessness.
The latest annual report from Threshold shows 201 households in the county sought help between January and March, up from 145 in the same period in 2025, with 154 considered at risk of becoming homeless.
Threshold says security of tenure remains a major issue, with many renters receiving notices of termination or informal warnings from landlords about plans to end tenancies.
Campaigns Officer Cat Clark says 18 families in Clare were prevented from entering homelessness in the first quarter and she’s optimistic that new rental legislation introduced in March will reduce the number of notices being issued.
