A Clare Councillor, who’s relative was onboard a vessel detained by Israeli forces has described the action as ‘totally illegal’.
Martin Guilfoyle, uncle of Clarecastle Sinn Fein councillor Tommy Guilfoyle, is one of seven Irish nationals taken from the Sumud Flotilla while it was sailing off the coast of Crete.

President Catherine Connolly’s sister, Margaret, is also involved in the Flotilla, but was on a different vessel which was not intercepted.
Councillor Guilfoyle says Israel has consistently been allowed to flout International law with no repercussions.
