Clarecastle The Star of 1950s Cine-Film

A short film will feature Clarecastle as its star this weekend, as footage captured from the local harbour in the 1950s will be shown in public for the first time.

Captured by a local amateur photographer, the scenes show Clarecastle in days gone by, when nearly half a century ago boats would flock to the quay with international shipments of coal and timber.

Eric Shaw from Clarecastle and Ballyea Heritage and Wildlife Group, and Pat Considine, son of Anthony Considine who filmed the footage, spoke with Morning Focus about the historic reels.
