Clare is preparing to celebrate its title as European Volunteering Capital 2027, recognising the thousands of people across the county who give their time to support their communities.
One of those volunteers is Rob Stephen.
Rob Stephen grew up in Kenya and first encountered the Community Games after moving to Sixmilebridge over
20 years ago, when his children became involved. Quickly drawn into the spirit of the event, he began
volunteering as a coach for draughts and chess competitions.
When Rob later moved to Shannon and his children were no longer competing, his own commitment didn’t
stop. He joined the Clare Community Games County Executive and today serves as the Chairperson.
