Dromoland Castle has announced its intention to commence a €55m redevelopment by the end of this year.
The project represents the largest in the hotel’s 63 year history.
Included in the development are designs to reshape the hotel’s accommodation, public spaces, wellness offerings and culinary concepts.
New dining concepts including the addition of a grill restaurant are outlined in the development with a 3,200-square-foot glass-enclosed Atrium, due to open in July of next year, the centerpiece of the project.
The accommodation capacity will be increased to 121 rooms and suites through two private lodge experiences.
The Walled Garden Collection will include 13 rooms on the site of the converted former stables, with the Heritage Collection adding a further 16 guestrooms, located on a newly constructed floor opposite the Castle’s main entrance.
The Castle Spa is also set for an expansion, including the addition of two glass-fronted saunas, which will combine ‘advanced thermal therapies and bespoke therapist-led rituals’.
Two new meeting rooms will also be installed, alongside a complete refurbishment of the existing ballroom.
Construction will begin in November of this year, with the castle closing between then and June 2027 to facilitate works.
