It’s hoped the Amgen Irish Open will leave a ‘lasting legacy’ on Doonbeg, despite restrictions due to come into effect.
It follows a meeting in the village community hall where locals have highlighted potential concerns ahead of this week’s tournament.
Representatives from Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, DP World, Clare County Council and An Garda Síochána have met with local stakeholders to brief the community on restrictions coming into effect later this week.
Parking will be prohibited in the village from tomorrow and the N67 will be closed to traffic from Friday.
Doonbeg Community Development Chairperson, Willie Hanrahan, says there will be no limitations on access to the village, and is hopeful the tournament will drive further visitors to the region into the future.
Access to the golf course will be facilitated by park-and-ride shuttle busses only.
Residents looking to access the security cordon on the left from Doonbeg village to Clohanes will require a garda pass
Those looking to access property on the right side from Hayes shop Doonbeg to Clohanes will require ID and a utility bill with proof of address.

Doonbeg Fianna Fáil Councillor, Rita McInerney, says that as much as possible, it will be business as usual for residents.
