There will be an event to commemorate the first War of Independence in Clare this Sunday (25/02/18).
There will be an unveiling of a plaque dedicated to John Ryan who was the first person killed during the War of Independence in Clare.

Ryan was member of the IRA’s East Clare Brigade.
He was shot dead by the RIC in Castlefergus near Newmarket-On-Fergys exactly 100 years ago this weekend.
Dr Pádraig Óg Ó Ruairic, a local historian and author, spoke to Gavin about the history of the war and the upcoming event.
