A West Clare mother fears the impending closure of ShannonDoc's Kilrush centre will have devastating consequences for her son and others.
Sorcha Daly's 3-year-old son suffered a severe asthma attack on Sunday last night and was rushed to the out-of-hours GP service in Kilrush, where he was sucessfully treated with a strong dose of nebulisers.
Her son regularly needs out of hours treatment on account of his condition and Sorcha fears that if she had to travel to Miltown Malbay or Ennis, the lengthy journey could have had serious consequences.
She believes the scaling back of ShannonDoc in parts of the county will ultimately lead to the loss of life.
