West Clare Councillor Says Funding For Maritime Centre ‘Biggest Game Changer Since Moneypoint’

A West Clare Councillor is describing the allocation of funding for the Kilrush Maritime Training Centre as the ‘biggest game changer’ for the region since Moneypoint.

Rural regeneration development funding of nearly €7.5m was announced for both the maritime facility and Holy Island Visitor Centre yesterday, with the former receiving over €3.5m.

The centre in Kilrush is anticiptated to welcome 1,200 trainees annually to undertake specialist commercial mandatory maritime training courses for positions at sea and also in the offshore renewable energy industry.

 

Independent Councillor in Kilrush, Ian Lynch, says the facility will mark Kilrush as a hub for renewable energy.
