Uisce Éireann repair crews began working on the main on Monday morning after the burst was reported.

To support impacted customers, an alternative water supply has been set up and will be available from 9am on Tuesday at the Ennis Mart.

People are being instructed to bring their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Uisce Éireann’s Darragh Conneely said crews are “working tirelessly to restore normal service and minimise disruption, assuring customers that every effort is being made to return a full and reliable water supply as quickly as possible”.

The water utility is reminding customers that it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to return but that it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
