Waiting lists are continuing to climb at Ennis Hospital.
The latest figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show there’s been an over 20% increase in the last year.
At the end of February , there were exactly 2,100 patients waiting for appointments at Ennis Hospital, marking a 24% increase on the 1,701 recorded there at the same time last year.
Last month, there were 2,071 adults waiting to see consultants in the county town, with 60% waiting for Cardiology services and of those 311 have been on the waiting list for over 18 months; representing a slight drop from the 316 waiting in January.
On the Inpatient side in Ennis, there were 700 adults on the list, with 78% waiting for Urology services and of this cohort, two were waiting over 18 months to be seen.
There was a significant reduction in the Children’s waiting list, however, falling from 85 to 29 within the last year.
At University Hospital Limerick, meanwhile, there were 34,190 service users waiting for outpatient and inpatient appointments at the end of February, which is 5,300 more patients than this time last year.
