Varadkar to address Dromoland Aviation Conference

Leading players in the aviation sector will gather in Clare next week to explore new ways of boosting business at Shannon Airport and the surrounding region.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar will give the key note address at the two day gathering in Dromoland Castle.

The opportunity for Shannon Airport to strengthen its place in the global sector will be a key focus at the second annual ‘Irish Business Aviation Convention next Wednesday and Thursday.

It comes just weeks after the government announced the make up of the various bodies set to oversee the separation of the Mid West Airport so it can be established as a stand alone entity with a special designated status.

The think in is jointly hosted by Shannon Airport and Shannon Development who hope it will also serve as a platform to broaden the Mid West Airport’s role as a potential business aviation hub.

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar – who will deliver the key note speech say the aviation industry presents enormous opportunities for Shannon, and for Ireland, in terms of job creation and economic growth.

Among the other guest speakers are CEO of Avolon and Ennis Native Domhnal Slattery –  Bill Readdy, former NASA astronaut and space shuttle commander and aviation consultant; Brendan McQuaid
