Nurses say the number of patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning was 35% higher than all ten eastern hospitals combined.
The latest trolleywatch analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 119 admitted patients on trolleys at the Dooradoyle facility during morning rounds, 46 of those in the Emergency Department.
The overall figure is 31 higher than the combined total for all ten hospitals serving the east of the country, and 74 more than the next busiest facility – Sligo University Hospital.
Overall, trolley numbers at UHL represent a quarter of all patients waiting for beds at Irish hospitals today, according to the INMO figures.
