Nurses say the region’s main hospital is busier than all ten hospitals in the east of the country combined, for the second time this week.
The latest trolleywatch analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 115 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 46 of those in the Emergency Department.
The overall figure is more than double the next busiest facility; Letterkenny University Hospital, where 47 patients were left waiting on trolleys, while it’s 17 more than the combined total of the ten eastern hospitals.
According to the INMO figures, 429 admitted patients were waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today.
