Three People Including Child Hospitalised Following West Clare Road Traffic Collision

Three people including a child have been hospitalised following a road traffic collision in West Clare this afternoon.

One person was airlifted to hospital after the two-car collision which occurred on the L2108 at Legard South near Spanish Point.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 2.00pm. National Ambulance Service paramedics; units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon and Kilrush stations responded to the incident along with Gardaí.

The HSE’s Cork-based Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) air ambulance was also requested to attended.

It’s thought all the casualties were travelling in the same car.

One adult was airlifted to hospital while a second adult and a child were transported by road ambulance.

The driver of second vehicle is understood to have escaped seriously injury but was left shaken.

She was assessed at the scene but is believed not to have travelled to hospital.

The road had been closed for over two hours but has since reopened.

Both vehicles have been recovered from the scene and are expected to be technically examined as part of the Garda investigation.
