‘Threats’ For Ennis-Based Retail Firm

An Ennis-based retail lobby group, which this week warned its members would leave the ESB if strikes at the company were to go ahead, has reportedly received an anonymous email warning staff they’re "being watched".

Workers at Retail Excellence Ireland, including Chief Executive David Fitzsimons, received the email which was sent using a popular free service.

The message contained a link to a report on REI’s website, stating that it would assist members move their ESB accounts to new providers.

The Irish Independent reports that the matter has been referred to Gardai in Ennis and in Dublin.

It comes as talks aimed at averting strike action at ESB, which could lead to pre-Christmas power cuts take place today.
