Talks continue regarding Feaghquin development

Local representatives in Quin say they’re confident a decision by Clare County Council to allow residential development on a site near the town, contrary to advice from the County Manager, is correct.

It was proposed that development on the site at Feaghquin had been prohibited due to it’s proximity to Poulnagordon Cave, which is regarded as a site of international importance due to the regular presence of hibernating lesser horseshoe bats.

A draft South Clare Area Plan had proposed that works on the site be disallowed, but Clare Councillors amended the document to change this.

Quin Fine Gael Councillor Sonny Scanlan feels it was the correct move.
