Unions representing workers at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports say they’re still hopeful that potential strike action at the state airprots can be averted, despite their row over pension entitlements.

Over 4,500 employees of the DAA and Aer Lingus are to be ballotted by their unions who are accusing both bodies of failing to address a 700 million euro shortfall in ther pension scheme.
Voting begins on Friday, and will end at the end of the month – workers’ representatives say strike action cannot be totally ruled out.
