The CEO of Shannon Chamber claims that leaving the Northern Distributor Road out of a transport plan for the region is illogical.
Widespread concern has been expressed this week about the omission of the second phase of the project from the second draft of Limerick Shannon Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy.
There’s been suggestions that an application for an Economic Strategic Development Zone in South East Clare could be in doubt if the road doesn’t go ahead, though the University of Limerick has told Clare FM it broadly welcomes the suggestion of investing in both active travel and public transport.
However, Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes says the business community wants clarity from the National Transport Authority on what’s planned.
