The Shannon based Coast Guard Rescue 115 helicopter this morning completed a successful medical evacuation in conjunction with the UK Coastguard.
The evacuation was conducted at 9am from a merchant vessel approximately 160 nautical miles off the south west coast.

The vessel had contacted the Irish Coast Guard on Friday, reporting a seriously ill crew member.
The crew member was landed safely at Kerry University Hospital for medical attention later in the morning, and the vessel resumed passage.
