The price of renting a home in Clare has risen by 8% throughout 2024.
Daft.ie’s final quarterly report for 2024, indicates the average price paid by new tenants in the county stands at €1,449.
The report shows that the corner of the market which experienced the greatest increase last year was four bedroom homes.
At the end of 2024, renters were spending €1,524 a month, an 8.7% increase from the €1,403 the same property fetched a year previous.
Two bed houses also saw a large increase in rent price, with rents now registered at €1,123 an average of 7.6% higher than at the end of 2023.
The cost to rent a one bed apartment in the county is ever edging towards the €1,000 per month mark.
At the end of 2024, tenants in one bed apartments paid an average of €956 a month, up 6.7% from last year’s mark of €896.
Rises were indeed seen across all parts of the rental market with three bed houses now fetching €1,306 a month, up 5.7 in a year. While five bed houses fetched €1,593 monthly, up 5.5% from the end of 2023.
The report also found that the average monthly mortgage payment for a two bed house was less than half what the average tenant rented a similar dwelling for.
Whilst average monthly mortgage payments on three bed houses stood at 58% of the cost to rent the equivalent.
