Cardinal Brady says he was just a notetaker in that inquiry.

In the Dáil the Tánaiste says whether it was the 1970’s or today anybody with information about the rape of a child had and has a duty to pass it on.

And Eamon Gilmore says the Government doesn’t have a view on Cardinal Brady’s position as head of the Catholic Church here, but he himself does.

Meanwhile, a  prominent priest says he believes Cardinal Sean Brady was willing to offer his resignation 2 years ago but the Vatican refused.

Fr. Brian D’arcy says if he was in the position of Cardinal Sean Brady now he would find it difficult to continue.

He has called on him to reflect.
